Miquel Ferreres Duran was born in the Barcelona district of Sants in August 1949. For a time, he combined his studies of Fine Arts at the School of Applied Arts (Llotja) with his work in graphics, animation and design. In 1975 he started as a professional cartoonist drawing at the now closed newspaper El Correo Catalan. He has worked in various magazines and newspapers such as Interviú, El Jueves, El Papus, El Temps, El País, Avui, Público, etc. From 1989 to 1997 he published a daily cartoon in the current political and social opinion section of La Vanguardia. With the emergence of El Periódico de Catalunya published in Catalan, he joined this newspaper in October 1997, publishing a daily cartoon in the opinion section. In 1996 he was awarded the City of Barcelona prize in the media section for his amusing graphic style and independent opinion, combined with the field of caricature and witty composition. In 2003 he was awarded The International Gat Perich Humour Award, for his career in the media, as well as Junceda Award 2003 in the section of Graphic Humour. In addition to his daily work in the press, he has made several contributions as an illustrator to television and advertising.
